 Cornerstone Cremation and Burial Center exists because Columbia-area families deserve a better choice than “corporate premium” or “unknown discount.” We are family owned and family operated, not a franchise, a corporate rollup, or a private equity portfolio company. Our history

For generations, families across the Midlands have trusted the people now behind Cornerstone Cremation and Burial Center, through Moseley Funeral Service's long-standing presence in West Columbia and through Palmetto Cremation Society, which has offered simple, affordable cremation care since 1982. In 2023, that trusted local care joined forces with McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, a family-owned South Carolina funeral home with roots stretching back to 1886 in Charleston.

Rather than operating three separate businesses, three buildings, three staffs, three sets of overhead costs that families ultimately pay for, we made a different choice. We built Cornerstone: one dedicated, right-sized funeral and cremation home, focused entirely on what Midlands families actually need. No unnecessary overhead. No confusing tiers. Just fair, transparent pricing and the kind of personal care that only a family-run business can offer.

That's the Cornerstone difference: the resources and reliability of a company with over 135 years in South Carolina funeral service, delivered through a brand built specifically to keep costs honest, because we believe every family deserves dignity, not just the ones who can afford a premium price tag.
